俄罗斯专利局用俄语进行通信，任何外语文件都必须翻译成俄语。如果通过专利代理人进行通信，可以用签署的委托书复印件来确认其指定，但是考虑到专利纠纷法庭审议反对、法律诉讼或转让的注册这些问题，可能需要委托书原件。俄罗斯申请人可以独立与专利局进行通信。

至于法律案件，俄罗斯的大部分知识产权案件由知识产权法院审理。该法院可以仔细地研究最复杂的案件。有些案件由一般管辖法院审理。精通地方判例的专利代理人和律师确保就任何事项保护客户的权益。

俄罗斯联邦知识产权局正在竭力缩短审查的时间。对专利审查的平均期限约是12个月，对商标审查的平均期限约是6-10个月。对发明、实用新型、商标和工业样品可采用加快办理，最多需要2个月的时间。

商标申请不会发表以考虑第三方的异议，不过有关当事方可以提交反对申请的论点。
